Princess Cruises has scheduled a new maiden voyage for the Sun Princess.
A 10-day cruise from Rome to Barcelona is scheduled for Feb. 28.
Shipbuilder Faincantieri has delivered the ship to Princess in Monfalcone, Italy, although the ship is still in the yard for additional technical work.
The inaugural voyage planned for Feb. 8 was canceled in late January because of a delay in delivery, and the Feb. 18 cruise has been canceled, too.
Princess is offering a full refund for guests booked on the Feb. 18 cruise, which was to be a roundtrip sailing out of Rome. These guests will also get a 50% future cruise credit and a reimbursement of travel costs if they have already arrived ahead of their sailing or will incur flight change fees.
The 178,000-gross-ton ship is Princess' largest ever built. It is also the first cruise ship built by Fincantieri powered by liquified natural gas and the first dual-fuel vessel to enter the Princess fleet.
The ship is the first of the line's Sphere class and will be followed by a sister, the Star Princess, in the second half of 2025. Each ship will accommodate 4,300 guests at double occupancy.
Princess and Fincantieri had jointly agreed in January to delay the delivery of the Sun, although the cruise line declined to indicate what led to that decision.
